Kasauli is a tiny town in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh known for its colonial-era buildings, orchards, and green-roofed Christ Church. It is located in the Solan district, approximately 290 kilometres from Delhi and 72 kilometres from Shimla. It is situated at an elevation of 1800 metres. It is a lovely small town that is sparsely populated when it comes to tourism. It is nestled in the lap of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. The majority of visitors stop there on their journey to or from Shimla. Kasauli is a hillside cantonment tiny town with historical significance that makes for a lovely calm holiday destination, particularly for a weekend trip. This hill station in Himachal from the colonial era is a hiker’s dream and a nature lover’s haven, with unrivalled Himalayan vistas. It’s one of the top holiday locations in Himachal Pradesh because it’s surrounded by absolute peace.

The town has a relatively cool to the humid environment throughout the year due to its location in the Himalayan foothills. As a result, the best months to visit this lovely town are March through June, as well as September, October, and November. The town boasts a number of comfortable hotels and lodges that range in price from moderate to luxurious, depending on the visitor’s budget and needs.

How to Reach Kasauli trip from Delhi?

By Air

The nearest airport to Kasauli is Chandigarh airport which is 70 km away. Once you reach the airport, you can take a cab or a bus to reach Kasauli.

By Train

Kasauli does not have a railway station. The nearest railway station is Kalka which is 40 km away from Kasauli. Also, you have an option of a famous Kalka-Shimla toy train is available. One needs to board a train and get down to Dharampur railway station which is 12 km away from Kasauli. From both the places, cabs at nominal prices are available for Kasauli.

By Road

I personally feel it to be the best option as you get to witness the mountains very closely and as per your convenience. One can easily book a cab from Delhi directly to Kasauli or can take a Delhi-Shimla bus and stop at Dharampur. From Dharampur, you need to take a cab to Kasauli. Mostly adventure loving people, hire a scooty or bike from Chandigarh to Kasauli, but it is important to take your safety as a priority. On the other hand, buses are also a good and pocket-friendly option for most people.

Places to Visit in Kasauli trip from Delhi

• Christ Church is the prime attraction in your kasauli trip plan

The Christ Church in Himachal Pradesh’s Kasauli hill station is a stunning example of British Indian architecture. The Christ Church is reported to have been founded on July 25, 1853, making it the oldest church in Himachal Pradesh. The Church of England historically controlled this church until 1970, when the Churches of North India (CNI) took over the operation. It is the highest point of Kasauli. It is located on Indian Air Force territory and holds a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. • Barog

At a distance of approximately 19 km, there is a small place called Barog. Barog is famous for its small and famous railway station which comes under the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Kalka- Shimla Highway. Barog railway station is a small railway station in the Solan district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The Barog station is the route’s eighth of 20 picturesque stops. It is located in the Solan district and is 1,531 metres (5,023 feet) above sea level. Colonel Barog, who built the world’s longest tunnel, was also honoured with the station’s name. After 32 tunnels, Barog appears. The overhanging pine canopy sags slightly to the sides, revealing the entrance to Tunnel No. 33. This 1.14 km long straight tunnel is the longest in the railways. Visitors can access the location via road after a 16-kilometre trek from Parwanoo. It also has a good connection to National Highway 22. With extensive woodland cover surrounding it, the rustic fort rises tall in a distant area of town. The town also has a number of other British-era structures, including the Gurkha fort, which is one of the most important.

• Kasauli Brewery

Kasauli Brewery was established by Edward Dyer during the 1820s. The Kasauli Brewery is India’s and Asia’s oldest brewery and distillery, as well as one of the oldest distilleries currently in operation. As it is the world’s highest distillery and brewery, the water needed to make malt whiskey was originally collected from a freshwater spring. However, the brewery had to be relocated to Solan as the population grew, causing a severe shortage of freshwater from the Kasauli spring.
